As Kamboo Project is an NGO with its main focus on education, we wish to show that we care and uphold our vision. We want to prevent the closure of the Phum Pheak 4 Primary School, and which will impact around 165 learners, who were challenged to pursue their education. The learners, for years, had been receiving instruction in a temporary space- namely under the school’s parking lot covering! Not a great idea, not safe and not an atmosphere prone to learning. Moreover, we want to ensure that such village schools remain operational as otherwise the children will have to walk far distances to attend a school in another village.

By providing new school buildings, we hope to inspire the children to attend school regularly in a safe, appropriate and beautiful school environment and not to leave with their parents to migrant workplaces. Learners who have to study in unsafe and crumbling buildings, do not wish to attend school. Their parents also do not want their children to be exposed to danger.

The quality of teaching will improve in safe and appropriate buildings as teachers can focus on their job of educating rather than worrying about their learners’ and their personal safety. The quality of learning for the children is also improved as the new buildings are safe as well as comfortable, out of the heat, dust and rain. They will no longer have to stop lessons to avoid the rainy season downpour and flooding or endure the extreme summer heat.
