A Safer Place to Learn: Roof Renovation Completed at Boeung Chum Primary School

Location: Boeung Chum Primary School, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province

Date: January to February 2026

Costs: USD4,950

Status: Completed

We are pleased to share the successful completion of the School Roof Renovation Project at Boeung Chum Primary School. This renovation has significantly improved the safety and comfort of the classrooms for both students and teachers.

Before the renovation, the roof of the classroom building had deteriorated over time. During the rainy season, water often leaked into the classrooms, disrupting lessons and creating an uncomfortable learning environment. Recognizing the need for safe and reliable school facilities, this project was initiated to repair and strengthen the roof.

The renovation work included removing damaged roofing materials, repairing the roof structure, and installing new roof sheets to ensure proper protection from rain and heat. As a result, the classrooms are now much safer and better suited for daily learning activities.

With the improved roof, students can now focus on their studies without interruptions caused by weather conditions. A safe and comfortable classroom environment plays an important role in supporting children’s education and well-being.

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to our two generous donors- Zimmermann Holzbau AG Klosters/Switzerland and Family Haering from London/UK –  for making this project possible. Your support is helping create better learning conditions and brighter opportunities for students in rural Cambodia.

Together, we continue building stronger schools and a better future for the next generation.
