Growing Skills, Growing Confidence and Secure School Meals: School Gardens
With the harvesting season drawing to a close, we can sum proudly sum up activities for the year 2025: across six primary schools in the Bakong District, the School Garden Project has brought fresh energy to learning and healthy living.
For Grade 6 student Vorn Sreyneth at Kroper Primary School, the garden became more than just plants.
“Before, I used to spend a lot of time playing. Now I feel proud when I help care for the vegetables,” she said. Harvest time was her favorite moment—when students enjoyed meals cooked with their own fresh produce.
Focal teacher Mr. Suk Sim saw the same impact.
“The students really enjoyed working together. They learned to take care of something over time, and that’s a skill they can use in life,” he shared. Despite challenges like insects and weather, the gardens thrived and even supported school meals, promoting healthy habits.
Both teachers and students across the six schools agree: the project builds responsibility, teamwork, and confidence—and they hope to see it expanded to even more schools in Cambodia.
Thank you for helping us cultivate not only vegetables but also learning, health, and brighter futures.
