At the beginning of 2020, Roland Debschütz and Nadine Urbansky, representatives of Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. from Germany, visited Ta Ey Primary School (Trapeang Thum Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province) to inspect our first joint project, which was completed in 2019. They met with the school children and teachers and decided to support a second round of renovation work for the school.
A new roof, floors, windows, doors and walls were built between January and September 2020. The students now no longer have to learn dangerously under a leaking roof or on a holey classroom floor. They can now hardly wait to see their new classrooms after missing school for six months due to the COVID pandemic.
This $12’000 project is a second joint effort of Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. and Kamboo-Projekt. It is particularly gratifying that 25% of the necessary investment funds were collected and contributed by the school itself, entirely in the spirit of helping people to help themselves.
Ta Ey Primary School and Kamboo Project would like to thank Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. as well as the families Böttcher from Germany and Ehrensperger from Switzerland for their generous financial support!
