Under the framework of our ongoing ICT programme, Swiss private individuals have donated the delivery of 35 laptops to three primary schools in the Prasat Bakong, thereby making a significant contribution to education and equal opportunity for disadvantaged school kids in the Cambodian countryside. Thanks to the more than two dozen donors who backed this project financially. The laptops were acquired – at a tangible discount from GEWA in Zollikofen/Switzerland- many thanks to GEWA- as well as Swiss Cargo, who shipped the hardware to Cambodia, again at a competitive fee.
Our regular volunteer Martin Forderkunz organised everything, from negotiating discounts, active fundraising, technical preparation, logistics and transport as well as distribution in Cambodia. 35 state-of-the-art laptops could thus be handed over to three rural schools that have never had a computer or laptop in their classrooms for teaching purposes. Some of the teachers have now received ICT training and will teach other teachers – and then the pupils – how to use e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint (step by step). At a next stage, they will also teach them how to access the internet safely.
There was great joy when Martin and the Kamboo Project staff handed over the devices to the students, and as you can tell from the pictures taken on the day of delivery (31 Oct 2025)!
