Volunteering with Kamboo Project: “Once in a lifetime experience”

In 2024, volunteering assignments with Kamboo Project have hit a record high. Why is that? Let’s hear from Eva Hoegger, who just completed a 2-month stay in our Siem Reap office. Says Eva:

“Before I left for Cambodia, I felt tired as I had had a very stressful time in Switzerland. Then I arrived in Cambodia. Within the first few days, I realized that I recovered quickly, thanks to the Kamboo Project team, a group of empathetic and warm people, the important work of the NGO for the local children, and the hospitality of the Cambodians.

During almost two months there, I had the opportunity to participate in various projects and support the local team. What I will always remember are the English lessons I taught together with Laoh and Sreyvorn. It was such a joy to see the smiles and enthusiasm on the children’s faces as we helped them learn.

The work of the local team is crucial for the children’s education. The support is not only for the children but also for their families. The Kamboo project builds trust and commitment in families so that the current and future generations can learn in an environment that is favorable to the children’s academic development and safety.

Today I have returned with wonderful memories and would like to thank Kamboo Project from the bottom of my heart. Learning so much from the impressive team, being part of this important work and having the opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture was a truly precious experience. They are making a valuable contribution to the development of the country and I am convinced that they will continue to do great things.

Thank you for this experience that I will never forget.”
